A Few Words
From Gordon & Joan
Joan and I have been managing Woodside
Village approaching 14 years. The previous 4 we were in the Sacramento
area where we managed a couple of different mini storages. When
we got the opportunity to come to Woodside and back to Auburn, we
jumped at it and haven’t looked back. We are both retired
from the grocery business. She from Luckys and I from Vons and Smiths
in Southern Cal. We have 3 children, two boys and one girl, plus
4 grandchildren whom we spend as much time as possible. Woodside
is not only a great place to work but also a great place to live.
We have the best of both worlds.
As managers we try to keep an open door policy. If our residents
have a problem of some kind, whether with us, a neighbor, something
wrong in their mobile, or just need someone to talk to, we like
to think we are here to listen and point them in the right direction.
This is not an 8 to 5 job. We are here all day, everyday, if necessary.
Joan is our Office Manager and with
her able assistant Arline Larkin, make sure our residents are kept
informed of anything they may need to know, and (the down side)
make sure all the billing goes out and is collected on time. Joan
is also responsible for most of the flowers planted around the clubhouse.
Arline is not only our assistant in the office; she is the editor
of our monthly newsletter.
I am the outside guy along with my
able maintenance man, Mike Nelson. We do our best to make sure our
visitors get a great first impression when driving into the park.
With 235 homes, about 38 acres, along with the open spaces, BBQ
area children’s park, swimming pool and club house, we seldom
(never) run out of projects to care for. Mike is a guy who likes
to be challenged. If I can’t figure it out (which isn’t
unusual) he takes over, and the job gets done. If a resident has
a problem of some kind, we ask them to call us first. If it not
a major fix and we can do it in a reasonable amount of time, we
will take care of it. Otherwise, we can usually suggest a reasonably
priced contractor.
We invite you to drop by
anytime, however to ensure we are available to
show you around, you might give us a call first. We would
love to talk to you, answer any questions you may have, and show
you why Woodside Village is the most desirable Senior park in the
Auburn area.

Arline's
Corner
When Joan asked me to come and work part-time here
in the office at Woodside, shortly after we moved in, I jumped at
the chance.
It has given me a great opportunity to meet my
neighbors and learn which activities my husband and I would like
to participate in, and believe me there are plenty here.
The Homeowner’s membership is only $2.00
a year and voluntary. That is quite a bargain considering what mandatory
condo memberships cost.
We are close to shopping, hospital, and Dr. offices
here, not to mention eating establishments. After living in the
country for forty years and making everything from scratch, it’s
a true joy to be able to go 5 minutes in either direction for an
assortment of restaurants.
My husband and I really enjoy the pool and the fact that we do not
have to do the maintenance ourselves.
Coming here was a good move for us. Downsizing
is a hard thing to do and this was an enjoyable way of doing it.
